How to Reupholster Dining Chairs

This DIY tutorial shows you how to give your dining chairs a fresh look by reupholstering the seat cushion. Many dining chairs have a cushion that can be easily detached, which makes reupholstering a simple project.

Materials Used:

Waverly Strands Teal: https://www.onlinefabricstore.net/waverly-strands-teal-fabric-.htm
Cambric Dust Cover: https://www.onlinefabricstore.net/cambric-dust-cover-black-fabric-.htm
2″ High Density Upholstery Foam: https://www.onlinefabricstore.net/2-x-18-x-54-high-density-upholstery-foam-.htm
Dacron Upholstery Padding: https://www.onlinefabricstore.net/1-2-inch-white-dacron-upholstery-deck-padding-.htm
C.S. Osborne Combination Tool: https://www.onlinefabricstore.net/c-s-osborne-combination-tool-.htm

Upholstery Fabric: https://www.onlinefabricstore.net/application-upholstery.aspx#type=Fabric
Upholstery Supplies: https://www.onlinefabricstore.net/application-upholstery.aspx?Type=Supplies

Instructions:

Materials Needed:

– Upholstery Fabric
– Cambric dust cover fabric (optional)
– Staple gun and staples
– C.S. Osborne Combination Tool
– Scissors
If replacing the cushion:
– 2” upholstery foam
– ½” Dacron Upholstery Deck Padding
– Electric or serrated knife

STEP 1: Remove old upholstery: First take off the cushion. It may be screwed in to the bottom. Turn the cushion over and detach the dust cover. Remove all the staples or tacks that are attaching the dust cover and upholstery fabric. Take note of the way the corners are folded so you can recreate these pleats later. Continue to take off any other layers of fabric and remove all the tacks or staples. If your chair is newer, you may not have to replace the cushion, but this turn of the century chair has a cushion made up of straw and batting, so I’m going to replace it with foam. Strip the seat down to the wooden frame if you’re adding new foam. Your chair may have webbing instead, or a solid plywood base. For this chair, I’m attaching a piece of the cambric below the foam so it doesn’t sag.

STEP 2: Add foam & Dacron padding: Place the frame on the foam and trace around it. Cut the foam out with an electric or serrated knife. You can cut off the top edges to round the sides a little. Place the foam and frame face down on the padding. Cut the padding so it wraps onto the bottom about 2” all around. With the staple gun, staple the padding in the middle of all four sides to hold it in place. Work your way out from the center staple leaving a little space at the corners. Then repeat on the other sides, pulling the fabric taut as you go. For the corners, pull the padding towards the center of the frame and staple. Then staple down the loose padding on either side of the corner. Repeat for the rest of the corners. Trim off all the excess padding.

STEP 3: Attach the upholstery fabric: Lay the fabric out face down. Place the cushion face down on top of it. Cut the fabric so there’s an extra 3 or 4 inches to wrap around the back, make sure the pattern is running straight. Place a staple in the middle of all 4 sides. On each side, work your way out from the center towards the corners. Run your hand over the front as you go to tighten the fabric. Leave a few inches at the corners. If your initial center staple is too loose, just remove it and staple again. For the corners, pull the center of the corner towards the middle and staple. Fold over one edge and staple to form a pleat. Then fold over the other side to form a second pleat. Repeat for all the corners. Trim off all the excess fabric.

STEP 4: Attach the dust cover: This isn’t a necessary step, but it finishes off the bottom nicely. Cut the cambric to the same size as the frame. Fold under the edges and staple.

5. Use the spanner wrench that came with the faucet to loosen and remove top cap assembly.

REPAIR ROOF SHINGLES

HOW TO REPAIR ROOF SHINGLES – Replace Missing Aspahlt Roofing Shingles Step by Step Guide

Part two starts at 9:26

Learn how to perform a DIY (Do It Yourself) roof repair when you have missing or broken shingles on your roof.

Step 1: Using a flat bar, separate the tabs of overlapping shignles 2 rows above and 1-2 shingles left and right, so you can completely remeove the damaged shingle.

Pry up the nails that hold down the damaged shingle.

2) Remove the shigle and replace it with new color mataching shingle.
Most roof manufacturers have similar colors, so as long as your new shingle is the same size as old ones, you are in good shape.
Replace the damaged shingle with new shingle and nail it down with at least 4 galvanazed roofing nails. I recommend using 6 nails per shingle.

Next nail all overlapping shingels above on on the sides

Congrats – you are ALL SET!

Cute Miniature Fairy garden – Tutorial

Hi guys! Today we’re making this cute miniature fairy garden ^^ This is a fun project for spring, and you can customize it however you like. I made mine I a Zink tray to keep inside, but you can do this project in a bigger pot to put in your real garden :

I used a flower pot as my fairy house and build a polymer clay door onto it, inspired by the round Hobbit doors. You can add whatever decorations and detail, you like; I added the flower pots and tools I made in this video; https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=esXU3…

Good to know:

I work in 1:12 scale, but you can make them in any size you want and add headpins to make them charms 🙂 I used a mix of the polymer clay brands Fimo and Cernit, but you can use any brand you like. The liquid clay I use is from the brand Fimo. My mold maker is from Siligum/Sili-put.

Thank you so much for watching, I hope you enjoyed this video ^^
