TRACE AFFEX TEAMS WITH MDI TO DEVELOP CD/DVD
PUBLISHING SYSTEM WITH NAS INTEGRATION
NAS UNIT WILL SIMPLIFY INTEGRATION, MAXIMIZE
PERFORMANCE AND REDUCE THE “TOTAL COST OF OWNERSHIP” FOR THE CD/DVD PUBLISHER
San
Jose, CA – March 12, 2002 – Trace Affex (www.traceaffex.com) and MDI (www.mdi.com) have signed a deal to develop the
desktop publishing industry’s most advanced, fully automated and unattended,
CD-R/DVD-R duplication system. This
tabletop system will combine Trace Affex’s latest publishing and printing
system with MDI’s newest network attached (NAS) technology to eliminate the
need for a separate NT workstation.
“Reducing the total cost of ownership to our customers is
cornerstone to our mission by increasing reliability, ease of use and
performance, “ states Brian McCarthy, Trace Affex vice president of sales and
marketing. “This started in 2001 by combining
the Trace Affex CD Artist printer, based on HP’s award-winning 900 series
printer engine, with our Trace autochangers to provide a lights out duplication
system. Just recently we introduced an
industry-leading 36-month warranty.
With today’s launch, Trace Affex will provide its users with the ability
to plug into the network with the compatibility of a Microsoft operating system
and performance of an Intel-based motherboard, making installation a
snap.”
“We expect this agreement to greatly impact the
marketplace and enable our sales channel partners to offer network users a
totally integrated solution for their on-demand CD/DVD-R publishing and disc
printing needs,” explained McCarthy.
The Trace Affex APS 2002 system features the marketplace’s most reliable
robotics, 100-disc input, two high-speed CD/DVD-R drives and high-resolution
color inkjet technology. It also
carries an unprecedented three-year limited warranty on robotics—three times
longer than any other warranty in the industry.
Utilizing Embedded Windows NT
and a simple graphical user interface for system administration, MDI provides a
robust software solution, to enable direct network attachment of the Trace
advanced duplication solution. “MDI’s NAS appliance technology combined with
Microsoft Windows NT Embedded 4.0 delivers
solid, dependable performance required when managing
storage as a network resource,” stated Joseph Ballard, MDI Director of Business
Development. “It attaches anywhere on a network via an Ethernet port, without
bypassing security protocols. “
